About The Wannabes

After more than seven long years of trying to conceive, almost 10 years with no contraception, 4 failed IUIs, countless tears, an empty nest, and now an empty bank account, Mr. and Mrs. Wannabe decided to move forward with IVF/ICSI in 2013.  Residing in the mountains of New Mexico, there is no infertility insurance coverage and only one real option for where to go for treatments and a good doctor, The Reproductive Center of New Mexico. Mr. Wannabe is 33 and has sperm DNA fragmentation. Mrs. Wannabe is 33 and has no known fertility issues. After being fed up with people around them meeting, then dating, then marrying, and then having multiple kids in the time they’ve been trying to conceive, The Wannabes finally decided to take the plunge and attempt IVF. This blog journals their journey in hopes of helping others’ struggling with the isolation, confusion, depression, and the roller coaster ride that is infertility. Follow along as The Wannabes embark on their attempts to create a family using IVF/ICSI. This blog is a witness to their journey as it unwinds…

  1. Hi there. I just discovered your blog and realized we have a whole lot in common. Like, same clinic and everything. We’re also dealing with MFI, and I’m nearing the end (not quickly enough!) of a two-week wait after our second round of IVF. Just wanted to wish you the best of luck on your upcoming cycle!

    • Hi! Wow, crazy that we go to the same clinic and both see Dr. C! I’m excited to hear how your beta goes! Good luck!!! I have my baseline for round #2 tomorrow. Thanks so much for sending good luck my way! Sending lots of prayers your way!!! 🙂

  2. Awesome! I am happy to have found your blog! I have been searching for blogs but hadn’t found many that were updated (or interesting) until today! Today I have found 3 and feel much less alone 🙂

I hope your journey goes well and I will be following along, comparing my experiences!

    • Hi! I’m so glad you found me! There is a great community of IVFers on wordpress, as well as on the internet in general. Welcome! I will follow you along as well! Good luck on your journey as well! 🙂

  3. I know how you feel – in the time we have been ttc, 5 kids have been conceived and born to people I work with in a pretty small office, three of them to the same couple, one to a much older couple, etc, all by natural means. Frustrating is NOT the word!!!! hah
